Con la presencia de su esposa, Dª Luisa Labandeira Pintos, el Concejal Presidente de la Junta Municipal de Distrito de Puente de Vallecas, D. Borja Fanjul Fernández-Pita, el Alcalde de Madrid, D. José Luis Martínez-Almeida y el presidente de CERMI Comunidad de Madrid, D. Óscar Moral Ortega, esta mañana hemos acudido a la inauguración del Espacio Miguel Ángel García Oca.
Con este emotivo acto rememoramos que, hace poco más de dos años, Miguel Ángel dejaba de estar con nosotros físicamente, no obstante dejándonos para siempre su espíritu, su constancia y trabajo y sus ganas de conseguir la realidad de la inclusión y la eliminación de las diferencias. En palabras de los que han intervenido, este pequeño homenaje sienta, para la eternidad, el nombre de Miguel Ángel en lo más alto del Cerro del Tío Pío, con vistas a toda la ciudad de Madrid, a las montañas, y a su segunda casa: su Fundación del Lesionado Medular y su Asociación ASPAYM Madrid.
Queremos repetir nuestras propias palabras de hace un año, cuando nos enteramos de que este espacio iba a llevar tu nombre, porque seguirán siendo válidas.
Nosotros celebramos, obviamente, esta noticia. Es más que procedente, más que merecido que lleve tu nombre. Espacio de Miguel Ángel García Oca que lleva a la Fundación del Lesionado Medular. Para llegar al Centro de Rehabilitación José Rodríguez. Hasta la Residencia del Lesionado Medular Miguel Ángel García Oca (¡sabemos que nos dirías que el nombre es demasiado largo!).
Durante estos últimos meses tan inciertos y tan atípicos, muchísimas veces nos hemos preguntado todos, y todas, cómo habría sido tu reacción ante todos los acontecimientos que han ido transcurriendo. En ningún momento hemos dudado de que habrías estado con nosotros al pie del cañón, y aunque repetimos hasta la saciedad que el hecho de que hayamos superado esta crisis sanitaria más o menos airosos se debe a nuestra fuerza, no podemos dejar de pensar, en lo más profundo de nuestras mentes y justo antes de irnos a dormir, que de algún modo nos sigues cuidando desde donde estés.
Queremos que sepas que nosotros no te olvidamos, y que esperamos que estés tan orgulloso de nosotros, de nuestra fuerza, de nuestro camino, como nosotros lo estamos de haberte conocido y que ahora podamos sentir, de algún modo, que estamos siguiendo tu camino.

During all these last months of uncertainty and fear, we have wondered many times how your reaction would have been before all the events that have been happening. At no time have we doubted that you would have been with us at all times, and even we repeat ad nauseam that the fact that we have overcome this health crisis more or less gracefully is due to our strength, we cannot stop thinking, deep within our minds and before we go to sleep every night, that somehow you continue to take care of us from where you are.
We want you to know that we will not forget you, and that we hope that you are as proud of us, of our strength, of our path, as we are of having met you. Now we can feel, in some way, that we are following your path.
