Clinical trials with New Technologies in Rehabilitation Treatments

The use of new technologies of robotics and programming allows to make advances in rehabilitation systems in line with the times. In FLM, we work together with the commercial firms to get the best results in treatment level from the most innovative devices on the market.

Incorporation of gamification to rehabilitation

By using video games with movement and positioning sensors and virtual reality experimentation, we turn up a notch to the traditional rehabilitation in order to achieve enjoyable activities available to all users, regardless of their injury.

Studies on Autonomous Dysreflexia

In collaboration with professionals of the medical team and representative entities, we are studying one of the main causes of severe complications in patients with SCI in order to establish a protocol for prevention, action and resolution of dysreflexic crises.

Patient rehabilitation with regenerative cell therapy.

In collaboration with the Puerta de Hierro – Majadahonda Research Institute, we take care of the rehabilitation of patients who have been treated in the clinical research program of cell therapy for SCI.

Monitoring, training and studies on catheterising habits and neurogenic bladder care

In collaboration with the Neuro-urology Consultation, we study the uses, habits and problems arising as a result of intermittent or permanent bladder catheterization in order to establish guidelines and to advise our users on the best ways to manage evacuation habits after a SCI.

Experimental treatments with shock waves for pressure ulcers and neurogenic bladder and pain treatment

Through the professionals of the multidisciplinary medical team and after receiving specific training on this technique, we use shock waves in different secondary injuries in order to study their effects in the improvement search that other techniques fail to achieve.

Motivation and promotion of physical activity

Our rehabilitative treatment is focused on maintaining a constant motivation for the sustained development of the independent life, while allowing the users to benefit from the resources and contributions of a comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment.

Assessment of the facing process and the factors that improve the perception of the quality of life

The knowledge of the skills and features that predispose to an effective SCI facing process as well as the factors that lead to an improvement in the perception of quality of life are two of the main lines of SCI research. The department has a background knowledge for over 20 years on the facing and adaption process, the psychological rehabilitation and the study and research of the assessment of quality of life in people with SCI.

Fertility treatments and recovery of private life

The specific unit of Sexuality and Reproduction for men and women with SCI is specialised in recovering the private life of the person with SCI, so the person can keep on developing a full life and get help and follow-up on reproduction.

Our Commitment

All members of the FLM team work at a 100% level to improve the life of people with spinal cord injury.

Every person and every spinal cord injury is a unique case. The individual characteristics of the person, the injury and the surrounding circumstances require all the attention and experience of our professionals. There are no identical cases or treatments; for this same reason, there are no identical progresses or results.

We are governed by development lines aiming at promoting, investigating, creating, growing and improving treatments to get the maximum recovery possible after a spinal cord injury; besides, our code of ethics prevents us from making any promise hard to keep, establishing unrealistic objectives or advertising treatments with questionable results.

FLM can guarantee the effectiveness and adequacy of the chosen treatment but cannot guarantee getting the results expected by the users beforehand: the results depend on the joint work of professionals and users.

From the FLM, we commit to offer you our full support... And together, we will get anywhere you want!
